Membership and visitor income only covers a third of our costs. As a charity, we rely on donations, legacies and fundraising to continue to protect and open up special places for ever, for everyone.
Our fundraising brings in over £75 million a year. Every penny of that goes towards helping us protect and preserve historic places and green spaces so that they can be enjoyed for generations to come. A straightforward aim but a far from simple task. Especially when you consider that it costs us a minimum of £100 million each year. It’d be an understatement to say that fundraising is crucial to us. Our redefined fundraising strategy will step-change how we do things and significantly increase our fundraising income. To achieve our plans, we’re working hard to deepen people’s connections with us and encourage giving.
We raise funds in all kinds of clever and innovative ways – from Heritage Lottery Fund £multi-million grants to strong commercial partnerships and people-powered campaigns. But we can do more. Joining us in Fundraising, you’ll help us raise more money and gain more support so that we can continue to deliver unforgettable experiences, now and forever. You’ll help us capture the minds of people who may not know us and stay in the hearts of those who already love us. Rewarding? Incredibly.
The National Trust touches people’s lives in so many ways and I’m always inspired by people’s reasons for donating and the emotional connections they share with the places and spaces we look after.

It is just amazing to be working for an organisation whose values are so close to my own – every day is interesting and fulfilling in a way that I just didn’t experience in previous roles.
