Why Should You Apply?:
About us
It’s undoubtedly one of the North East’s greatest historical treasures, a masterpiece deep in the Northumbrian countryside. For the last year, we’ve been campaigning to save Seaton Delaval Hall, its gardens and grounds, so that local people and communities can enjoy it forever. And thanks to massive on-the-ground support and an incredibly successful national campaign, we’ve done it.

Seaton Delaval Hall is a great English Baroque villa, designed by Sir John Vanbrugh for Admiral George Delaval, built between 1719 and 1732, with formal gardens and colourful borders. But it’s so much more than an architectural masterpiece. For 900 years, the estate has been a stage for drama, intrigue and romance while the surrounding landscape has fuelled industrial revolution. The Hall has survived terrible fires, military occupation and potential ruin. Today, Seaton Delaval provides an amazing space for arts, heritage and the community to come together.

About the role
Sharing our love for this magical place, you’ll play an important part in its unfolding story. Not only do we want Seaton Delaval to be a first-class visitor attraction, but we also want it to be an invaluable community resource. A place that local people can use and love, a place that’s at the heart of the community.

Engagement’s the key word for this all-important role. As well as being quick to gain the confidence and support of stakeholders, volunteers and colleagues, you’ll encourage visitor and community feedback at every turn, as you steer Seaton Delaval through this exciting period of its development.

As Property Manager, you’ll be responsible the operational performance of the property, producing and delivering business, property management and marketing plans. You’ll also head up a talented, multi-disciplinary team, and manage a project budget of some £3million (plus operating budgets of around £500k).

In everything you do, you’ll work to increase support and raise income. You’ll also make sure that we continue to meet agreed conservation targets. Alongside your vital work at Seaton Delaval, you’ll play an important part in our Inner City Project. Based at the Holy Jesus Hospital, it’s a youth and community project that works in deprived areas of Newcastle and Tyneside, and encourages great use of our countryside and heritage.

About you
A talented, experienced manager, you’ll have strong leadership skills and excellent organisational and planning abilities. Creative and collaborative, you’ll champion involvement, set the direction for the property and inspire people to follow your lead. Bringing a strong understanding of the heritage sector and conservation in general, supporter engagement underpins everything you do and you’ll know how to successfully raise our profile and increase our profits.

With a good knowledge of the local area, you’ll love the challenge of bringing such an incredible place to life for visitors and communities. You’ll also be financially astute and commercially switched-on, confident managing large budgets. We’d also like you to have a successful track record of fundraising.
