Everyone here at the National Trust is passionate about good food. And the proof? As we all know, it’s in the pudding. Together, our 150 restaurants and tea rooms serve over eight million people every year, with delicious-tasting, locally-sourced, seasonal produce taking pride of place. In fact, we’re one of the UK’s largest catering businesses, preparing lovingly-made, fresh food from some very special places.

From plot to plate, from the elegant surroundings to the attentive service, our catering teams work tirelessly to make sure that visitors enjoy a memorable catering experience, whether it’s a quick cuppa (ethically-traded, of course) or a home-cooked hot meal. And it really is a team effort too, with Catering Assistants and Catering Managers working alongside Cooks and Chefs to create mouth-watering meals.

Wherever possible, ingredients are sourced from the land immediately around a property, many of which have their own kitchen gardens. Meat often comes from quality herds, provided by tenant farmers; fish from local sustainable sources. And local artisans –bakers and cheesemakers – are some of our most important suppliers.

 
As you can see, we’re big on food glorious food, very big. We’re big on sociable working hours (no evening work) and training and development too. So if you share our love for good food, and whether you join us as a Catering Assistant or a Cook, an experienced Chef or a Catering Manager, we’ll help you to develop your skills and knowledge. And with both formal and on-the-job learning, you’ll also have the opportunity to gain recognised catering qualifications.
