Train as a Warden

As a Trainee Warden you'll spend your time on Careership building the skills and knowledge to protect a unique habitat or landscape. Your education will be as diverse as the land we protect, focusing on topics from sustainable farming and access and legislation systems, to wildlife and habitat management, and environmental change.

You'll pick up a whole range of practical skills such as building, fencing and the safe use of machinery, but it won't all be physical. You'll enjoy identifying plants, trees, animals and birds, passing your knowledge on to visitors and volunteers, as you work with communities and tenant farmers to keep delicate habitats safe.

Working to protect your environment will be rewarding. As well as job satisfaction, you'll gain invaluable experience throughout your training, and will work towards a wide range of nationally accredited qualifications including:

• NVQ
• National Certificate - Environmental Conservation Level 2
• Livestock Handling
• Safe Manual Handling
• Emergency First Aid
• Basic Chainsaw Use and Maintenance
• Basic Brushcutter and Strimmer Use and Maintenance
• Safe Use of Pesticides and Knapsack Sprayer
• Information Technology
